CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS TOURNAMENT AT TE PUKE On the Te Puke Green on Saturday last the linals were jDlayed between the respective winners of the Eastern and Western zones to decide the IDremiersliip for the Champion of Champions Singles and the Executive Fours of the Bay of Plenty Bowling Centre.- Success' attended the efforts of the local club in each instance. In the Championship Singles R. Murphy of Whakatane (Eastern Zone winner) defeated L. Manning of Te Puke (Western Zone winner) by 17 points to 14 and in the Executive Fours contest S. J. McKenzie C. Pearson, L. Littlej,ohn and W, Howat (s) of Whakatane (Eastern Zone winners) defeated Wildebourne y Perriman, Pole and Martin of Tauranga (Western. Zone winners) by 23 points to 17. In a one-day tournament played on the Taneatua Green at the weekend Burt, Hollis McLcod and Murphy (s) of the Whakatane Club beat Martin ? Merito } Mclsaac and Hayward (s) also of the Whakatane Club. Eighteen rinks were engaged in the tournament. A review of the present season shows that the Whakatane Bowling Club has> attained a. considerable measure of success in competition with outside clubs. The highlight of the season was in the Club's Easter Open. Tournament when the club's representatives provided both the winners and runncrs-up—thirty-two rinks including seventeen rinks from outside clubs taking part in the tournament. The club also won the full rink competition for the Forbes Cup at. Opotiki and its representative was runner-up in the Ferguson Cup singles competition. In the Shield matches with the Taneatua Club the deciding game was won by that club by the-narrow margin of two points whilst the Whakatane Club succeeded in retaining the Feathers for first year players. Local players' have been successful in winning a number of one-day tournaments held on various greens throughout the season.This, year the club is fortunate in receiving an accession of young players who show exceptional merit and should be a source of added strength in the near future.

Junior Stars In a match for the Junior Stars R. Stewart and J. Thompson (holders) defeated R. Spong and A. E. Coekerell (challengers) by 22 points to 20.
