Control by the State
"There are no less thirty-six industries in this country which are subject to State licenses," said Mr W. Sullivan at the meeting of the Whakatane Chamber of Commerce. "This is probably the greatest thing we are up against for it leads to State monopoly and permanent control." Amateur Race Meeting Although we knew nothing of it at the time of writing it transpires that simultaneous to our suggestion that the district should run an Amateur Race Meeting, that Edgecumbe had almost completed their arrangements for just that object. On June 4th j therefore at Te Teko an Amateur Race Meeting will be held under the special permit, existing and •riders from Tauranga, Te Puke and Whakatane will be taking part. Keep this great event in mind.
