The work of overhauling and reconditioning aero engines was planned in the year between Munich and the outbreak of the war ? and was put into operation in September 1939. • } Alter Dunkirk the repair scheme really came into its own and these recQnditioned engines enabled many extra aircraft to take part during the critical days of the Battle of Britain.
