EXECUTIVE FOURS
CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS
Last week-end the 'Executive Fours' for the Eastern Zone of the Bay of Plenty Bowling Association took place, on the Whakatane greens. This annual event is a novel tournament in which the executives of all affiliated clubs enter a team for a friendly contest. The winners of the finals in the Eastern and Western zones finally meet to decide the bowiing honours. In conjunction with the tourney the 'singles' to decide the Champion of Champions is also another feature which creates no little interest.
Details of the play were as under: — Executive Fours First Round: Davis Stephenson, L. Davis and Burrett (Opotiki) 28 beat McKenzie Littlejplin, Henderson and Howat Ifi (Whakatane). Grace Gee Foster and Hunt * * (Taneatua) 26 beat Wade Barber, W'hitfield and Griffith (Opotiki Citizens) 23. Second Round: Burrett. 22 beat Hunt 21. Howat 27 beat Griffiths 7. Third Round: Griffiths 17 beat Burrett 4. Howat 19 beat Hunt 18. Final: Howat (3 beat Burrett 1 (5 heads). Champion of Champions Singles First Round: Murphy (Whakatane) 20 beat Maunsell (Opo'tiki) 16. Coe (Taneatua) a bye. Second Round: Coe 23 beat Maunsell 1.7. Murpliy a bye. Third Round: Coe. 16 beat Murphy 14. Fourth Round: Murphy 19 beat Coe 9. Final: Murphy 19 beat, Coe 12. Junior Stars Stewart and Thompson (holders) defeated Riddell and West (challengers) 26 to 17. Smith Stars Smith, Martin, Dixon and Murphy (challengers) 19 beat J. Wilson, C. Head, Shapley and Currah (holders) 16.
GAMES OVER WEEK-END
Fine weather over the past Aveek-| end made, it possible for the Wha-j katane Bowling Club's greens at Apanui to be well patronised once again by local players.
