PATRIOTIC DANCE

GAY OTAKIRI EVENING The usual monthly dance organised by the Patriotic Committee was held in the <*)ta'kir: Hall' on Tuesday evening last. Music was supplied by the Rhythm Vendors, a very good combination of players who promise to become popular throughout the Whakatanc district. Mr Lord acting in the capacity of M.C. kept the programme moving along merrily. The winner of the Monte Carlos were Miss P. Forbes and Mr A. Armstrong, the iast-named having a second win later with Miss Mikkelsen as partner. The Dutch Monte Carlo was won by Miss Gilbert and Mr Pinkham.

A beautifully iced cake, donated by Mrs R. H. King, was Avon by Mr A'shdown and another competition went to Mr King a popular win. During the evening Mr L. Cristall ? Chairman of the Entertainment Committee took the opportunity of thanking the young girls who so kindly undertook the decorating of the hall for the dance and expressed the appreciation of the Men's Committee also who had carried out this Avork every month for five and a half years. The present occasion, he said, Avas the first break offered fhem.

A sumptuous supper of homemade cakes and savouries Avas serv-t ed by the ladies' committee, and later the National Anthem brought another enjoyable dance, to a close.
