SUCCESSFUL EASTER TOURNAMENT TWO LOCAL TEAMS CONTEST FINAL The. second Easter ft Tournament conducted by tlie Whakatane Bowling Club on its greens at Apaunf was favoured with splendid weather throughout and was a complete success iu every respect. I*or the excellent arrangements made, credit must be given to the officials concerned namely the Secretary, Mr S. J. McKenzie and the Tournament Committee, -Messrs L. Luxton, W. Henderson, and S. J. McKenzie. A band of lady workers provided morning and afternoon tea each day a service Avhich was very much appreciated by both bowlers and visitors alike. The visiting bowlers were impressed by the hospitality and good fellowship displayed, and from all appearanceSj the fixture is likely to grow in popularity. There was a full entry of thirtytwo rinks engaged in section play comprising Whakatane 14. rinks Katikati 3, Putaruru 3, Taneatua 2 Hamilton 2, Te Pulse 2 Hamilton ' -j East 2 and Patumahoe, Frankton Raglan and Tokomaru Bay 1 rink each. Seven, wins were required to qualify for section play and it was a tribute to the*standard of play of the local club that although its bowling strength was spread over 14 rinks it provided the two rinks which contested the thus supplying the winners and the runners-up of the tournament.
