RED CROSS ACTIVITIES
WHAKATANE BRANCH The monthly meeting of the Wluikatane branch oi' tlie N.Z. Reel Cross Society took place in the Borough Council Chambers on Tuesday, 20th March with Mrs Sullivan in the chair. Mrs Pririeaux Lady Superintendent V-A.D. said the Detachment still held regular meetings and members were sewing l'or their shop day. Mrs. Shapley reported that the Comforts Committee had packed 94 parcels since last the Women's Institute packing five. Goods ? containers and string had been sup., plied bj r Patriotic. For the Lady Gaiway Mrs Moran said she had recently despatched three cases containing 430 garments. Two men had been farewel'ieci, said Mrs E. Armstrong, convener of the Entertainment Committee. They were Pat Smytlie (Navy) and J. D. Butler (Air Force). Mrs Timbs reported that the following completed garments had been, sent away: Patriotic one one pair socks, five pairs 10 scarves and twelve balaclavas; for Joint Council six pairs socks one pair gloves t one scarf and two pullovers . After correspondence had been read and discussed the meeting closed.
