CYCLE TYRE SUPPLY
ACUTE SHORTAGE OBTAINING
An acutc shortage of cycle tyres is at present obtaining, so much so that the size most in demand twentyeight by one and a half is unprocurable. ' This- shortage does not find its source in the rationing but in the J supply itself. This may } according to an official report from Reid Rubber Ltd. Penrose be traced directly back to the coal shortage which has slowed up production to such an extent that the output is far below normal. In addition to this due to the completion of certain Government contracts, a number of skilled men employed by the plant have been drafted for military service thus further crippling the industry. Cyclists may rest assured that if their tyres have not yet arrived, even though a permit has been granted, the fault is not with the but it is hoped that the position will adjust itself within the next month or so.
