AN INTERESTING DISCUSSION
PAR LI A MENTARY COMMITTEE
INTERLUDE
lii the course, of his remarks at tile sitting of the Parliamentary Committee Mr J. L. Burnett said that hi,s Council Avhilst not sufficiently acquainted with the subject of interest-l'rce money, felt that the subject was one. worthy of investigation, and that if any advantages were to be gained from this source they should be fully exploited. "] am just passing it on as a suggestion," said Mr "in the hope that it might be followed up." Hon. W. E. Parry: That's tho best way to settle it! In answer to Mr Mr Burnett said he admitted not knowing a great deal about the but considered it worthy of investigation. Mr Poison sajd that the subject had been sponsored by the Counties' Association and in their evidence in North Auckland local body delegates had mentioned it. When however they were asked to expound the theory from a practical point of view ? they all confessed that they knew little of. it. "These suggestions," continued Mr Poison, "have been put solemnly before us by responsible who don't know anything about them. It just shows you how a thing can catch on. Don't you think it was unfortunate that your council gave thought and publicity to this thing, which undoubtedly could only have led to inflation?"
