ALLANDALE FLOODING
THE very reasonable attitude adopted by the Borough Council in response to the two petitions presented by resi-. dents in the flooded areas of lower Allandale, should give those immediately concerned considerable satisfaction. Such assurances' however can only perpetuate their good faith when they are followed by action within a reasonable period of time. With the winter approaching and with vivid memories of what four inches of rain can do with the stream-bed in its present state, residents are justified in holding the Council firmly to its promise to carry out the deepening and widening operations immediately the first suitable excavator-dredge becomes available, and failing that, temporary measures at least, which will safeguard/ against another such flood as that of three week's ago.
