A returned soldiers' tournament was played at Taneatua on Sunday March 18. Fine, weather prevailed and the greens were in good condition. Following are the results in detail:— Section A: Frew (Opotiki) 6 wins.; Knaggs (Rotorua) 4; Dr. Wallis (Ro_ torua) 4; Twigg (Opotiki) 4%; Hunt (Taneatua) 6; Davies (Mt. Maunganui) 1; Mansell (Opotiki). 3%; Littlejohn (Whakatane) 5; Foster (Taneatua) 6. In post-section play Frew and Hunt were eliminated by Foster. Section B: Clark (Opotiki) 3 wins; Whitfield (Opotiki) 2%; Leaning (Rotorua) Knight (Te. Puke) 3; Carter (Taneatua) 3; Johnston (Tau. ranga) 6Y 2 ; Luxton (Whakatane) 7; Currah (Whakatane) 5%; Coe (Tan.eatua) 4. In the Wilkinson Horne, 'Warner and Luxton (skip) (Whakatane), beat Mair, P. Moody Torrie and Foster (skip) (Taneatua) t by B—3,8 —3, the Tin Hat being presented to the winning team by Dr. Wallis of Rotorua. Local Bowling Fine weather also attracted a large -crowd of bowlers to the rinks at Apanui on Sunday where some good play was witnessed. Detailed results of games are as follows:— L.
