"THE KIWIS"
! BRIGHT ENTERTAINMENT FEATURING AT WHAKATANE I- . On Thursday and March 122 and 23 the birghtest and cleanest "variety entertainers Whakatane has seen, for many years will open a -short season at the Grand Theatre. These are none other than the: fam-l-ous "Kiwis " who have been a sen. * sation everywhere they have played. Every artist is a man, though it is hard to believe this ol' Phil Jay and John Hunter (the c-harming "ladies" of the-company) so perfect are their characterisations and dancing; or of Tim the child impersonator, "whose impish nonsense will make you want to smack "her." Jim Millins (the compere) f Dick Marcroft droll, dismal -comedian) Snowy -Hall and Harry Unwin (piano-accord. aonists), and Eddie Hegan (of the twinkling feet) are just a lew of "the men who will particularly im. ipress you with the excellence of -ffreir performances. A feature of the show- is the "Kiwi" orchestra -Tinder the direction of George Hat*ton, .whieh ? with the elegant dressing and expensive l'rocking, lift this of ex-soldiers far above "anany other professional touring companies you may have seen. "Every, artist a man and every "man an artist" sums up perfectly the type-of - enterta ininent offering. : JiiTe show moves with speed and continuity this apparently being the llecret of its immense popuMrity. I,; The plan opened at Armstrong's gjjtationers several days ago and is Hping rapidly.
