REFUSE COLLECTION
EXEMPTION FROM SERVICE
At the last meeting of the Borough Council fifteen applications from local residents for exemption from the rubbish collection service which will be inaugurated in the near future were received together with recommendations in each case from the Health Inspector. These were as follows:—
Recommended for exemption: Biggons, Mrs R. } James Street; Knowles C. H., James Street; Booth G. F. James Street; Heaslip R. H. } Alexandria Avenue: Fraser J. T., James Street; Sisam L. W- t King Street ext.; Simonsen E. J. Hinemoa Street; Hamill Mrs M.* Hilicrest.
Exemption not recommended: Law Mrs Douglas Street; Lucas, Mrs G., Douglas Street; Brown S., Valley Road;, Summers Mrs E Vj Wairere Street; Schofield R. W.* Bridge Street; Washer Mrs G., } King Street; Burgess H. A., Domain Road.
The. recommendations were in each case adopted, and it was decided that it be left in the hand* of the Town Clerk and the Foreman-Engi-neer to arrange the days for the taking of rubbish in tlie separate areas throughout the Borough and that these be advertised.
lii answer to a question from Cr Good regarding the method by which recommendations were decided upon it was explained that only houses situated on one acre or more ol' land were, eligible. Also they must occupy v an isolated position and not form one of a group of dwellings.
