COLLISION WITH DRAY
RUNAWAY HORSE
MAORI WOMEN INJURED
As the result of an accident at the Rangitahi Pah } when two runaway horses harnessed to a harvesting mower crashed into a dray two Maori women Mrs Rdngi Ngamotu, and Mrs Dorothea Maher were admitted to the Rotorua Hospital in a serious condition on, Monday morning. The accidcnt occurred when two horses harnessed to a harvesting mower .standing near Mr P. Anderson's store .suddenly bolted and after careering in, a wide curve across the pah for about '200 yards crashed with terrific force against the dray which the two women were seated, causing it to overturn. Mrs Ngamotu > who was hurled underneath sustained fractured ribs while Mrs Maher although thrown clear, re_ ceived internal injuries. Both women who were also suffering badly from shock received attention from Nurse Bigham District Nurse after ° 1 9 which they were transferred to the Rotorua Hospital. Their condition is reported to be still serious but showing signs of » improvement.
