OTAKIRI ACTIVITIES
The monthly meeting oi' the Otakiri Women's Institute was held in the Otakiri Hall on Wednesday Februaiy 7. Ln the absence of Mrs Armstrong i Mrs Jcssop presided ever a fair attendance. A most interesting talk of the | Women's Institute movement in England was given by Can--Ihe speaker told ito\\ i)usiness of the Institute mn aiv | of special interest was (-] ie discussion on the QPlTaa Festival held in England. Man 3- new ideas were given and should prove very, helpful in future. Mrs Carr was accorded a very hearty vote of thanks by those present. The much talked of Eisteddfod, was discussed and a special meeting regarding it was called. Nominations lor President and Secretary were accepted for the aninual meeting which takes place next month. Two new members: Mrs Gilbert and Miss E. Hogbin wer c welcomed. The Roll Call of 'Gardening Questions' was very popular and man}* interesting answers were given.
Hie following were the competition winners' for the month: Best {lower Mrs Smith 1: Mrs. Mackrell 2; Mrs Peck Best vegetable, Mrs Hamilton 1; Mrs Peck 2; Mrs Missen Ginger Mrs Peek 1; Mrs Missen 2; Mrs. Smith 3. Gooseberry jam Mrs Peck 1; Mrs Missen 2. 21b preserving jar arranged for Mrs Peck 1: Mrs Missen 2; Mrs Mackrell '<).
