THE FIRE DANGER

THOUGHTLESS discarding of matches and cigarette-ends can quite easily in this dry weather be responsible for very serious consequences. A recent instance of this was afforded last week when some person passing along Stewart Street, threw a smouldering butt into the grass on the roadside, which gave rise to a serious outbreak and the necessity of summonsing the Brigade. A warning to the general public is therefore issued in this connection, particularly during the present dry spell when there is l an abundance of material on the roads which will readily take flame.
