OPOTIKI REPRESENTATIONS
CHAMBER'S ACTION At the monthly meeting of the Opotiki Chamber of Commerce this week presided over by Mr A. G. Stevenson, Mr J. D. Clark moved the following resolution: "That this chamber press for the resumption of the Au-ckland-Gisborne airway service." Speaking to the motion, Mr Claik .said that a temporary license had been granted Union Airways for the southern run from Gisborne. He had ha,d a telephone communication from the Gisborne Chamber which * urged that a strong telegram should be sent to Union Airways. There was another plane available and if Opotiki pressed it might get that plane. He moved that, the Chamber urge upon Union Airways- the recommencing of the Auckland-Gisbornes service. Mr Stevenson said that he had had a communication from Mr F. J. Short who had attended, two meetings in Gisborne on the same subject. A permit had been granted Union Airways to resume the NapiecGisborne route. There was another plane available and Mr Short had urged that the chamber pass a resolution urging upon Union Airways to give priority to the Auckland.Gisborne route. Mr Stevenson seconded Mr Clark's motion. Mr H. G. Reeves suggested that the support of the Auckland and Tauranga Chambers be solicited in the matter. A committee consisting of the president the vice-president and the secretary was- set up to follow up the matter.
