NO COMPLAINTS

WHAKATANE HOSPITAL

VISITING COMMITTEE'S REPORT

Reporting for the visiting committee at the last Hospital meeting on Friday, Mr A. F. McGougan said that he had been round the whole of the wards and found every one satisfied and in good spirits. He had particularly sought for complaints but without . success and itl seemed almost a joke going round itf try and find them. From his own. observations lie suggested that the' Board should institute a better scheme for the storage of. milk. This however, could be fairly easily remedied. The chairman said that many of the difficulties at present arose from the cramping of storage space. Many would be eliminated when the building programme was completed"Have you ever checked up on the milk " asked Mr McCready. "I understand that the same amount goes in whether there are sixty seventy or eighty patients." The chairman said that a contract had been entered into by the board for a daily minimum supply. If any went stale he assumed it went, to the pigs. Mr McCready: Are you sure v it doesn't go back? The chairman: No. Mr McCready: Well you are the chairman. You ought to know. The chairman: But I'm not a house manager. Mr Buddie went, on to explain that the order of 24 gallons a day had been fixed on the minimum requirements of the hospital. Mr McCready: What would your say if ten. gallons were Ordered whiehL were not needed? The chairman: I woultf suggest? that the next visiting committe& could j£o into it. Mr McGougan: It. seem£ strange ifi there is a wastage of. milk. We cam easily stop it if there is and get less. Does Mr McCready know of any instance where there has been wastn age? * Mr McCready: I don't know anything according , to this board. The next visiting committee to appointed were Messrs Suckling andl Burt.
