PUBLICISING WHAKATANE

LACK OF NEWS

A suggestion from His Worship the Mayor that there was not sufficient news concerning Whakatane printed in the N.Z. Herald was raised at the meeting of the Whakatane Borough Council on Monday evening. Continuing, he stated, that there was very little about this town appearing in the Herald, and more publicity would not do it. any harm.

Cr Warren: I don't know so much. Any time we have a floo'd or an earthquake we get plenty of publicity! (Laughter). \

The Mayor went on to say that he felt the Chamber of Commerce should take the matter up with the paper concerned and hoped that better results in the news columns of the Herald would be forthcoming.
