QUEEN ELIZABETH

The following poem, taken from an English newspaper, written of Queen Elizabeth, has been handed in by one of our readers:— I'm glad she wears no uniform, This, smiling Queen of ours; I'm glad she wears a pretty gown With pearls and lace and flowers. I'm glad she doesn't sob and weep Qr look sad and forlorn, But keeps her smile (God bless her face) As radiant as the morn. And when they bombed old Buckingham^ Her very room (no less) 5 She went to church as large as life And wore her gayest dress. And in the air raid shelter Deep down below the ground, She stayed and had a cup of tea While bombs were dropping round. No truer Queen e'er graced a throne Than this great Queen of ours, _ Who faces day after day, ,■ With pearls and lace and flowers. —"Tartan."
