English Wives
Thirteen British wives of New. Zealand servicemen have arrived in Sydney. There are also nine children in the party t> ranging in ages from a few months to nearly four years. The children have had ice cream for the first time in their lives and quantities of fruit. Eight of the wives are married to New Zealand airmen, lour to New Zealand soldiers and one to a New Zealand naval ollicer. Importance of Landing Craft During the visit of Lord Keyes to Australia and New Zealand much due tribute had'been paid to his advocacy for the development of the Fleet Air Arm i said Mr C. G. McKellar president of the Overseas League, at the civic reception to Lord and Lady Keyes in Christchurch recenti v. However another *■ - J contribution by Lord Keyes to the Allies' success, in this war was frequently overlooked.- This was his part in designing and developing landing vessels used first iji commando raids and subsequently in all the major invasion operations.
