QUESTION OF CHURCH SITE

FURTHER CONFERENCE

Discussing the question of the proposal to create a central Domain at Edgecumbe, the County Clerk at the last meeting of the Council reported that he had been in touch with Mr Brown, manager of the Whakatane Paper Mills, on. the question of. its property. The position in regard to the company's lands at Edgecumbe was that the Domain Board holds the company's offer to sell to it practically the whole of its site at. Edgecumbe. The company would, however, see 1 that its arrangements with the council about the Church site were kept. It Avas reported that, the committee with Cr Hunter, conferred withj Messrs J. Mullins, O. V. Marx, C. E. Thompson and W T . J. R- Thompson (Domain Road) on matters respecting the proposed domain, and the Chuifch site. The council resolved that as respecting the Church site, a committee of the council comprising Crs Leslie McCracken and Hunter confer on" the ground with the Church Committee, the Domain Board and a representative from the Whakatane Paper Mills Ltd.
