COMPLIMENTARY DINNER

A dinner for the two teams and officials was held on Sunday evening and a thoroughly enjoyable time was had by all. Mr A. Baker, the Manager of the Poverty Bay team, thanked. the Bay of Plenty for the most cordial welcome given to his team and also the wonderful hospitality accorded them during their week-end in Whakatane.

Mr Musgrave President of the Bay of Plenty ' Cricket Association, also spoke and congratulated the Poverty Bay team on their fine showing. As it was the team's first experience of playing on a concrete wicket he thought their performance most meritorious.

Mr Dow, Captain of Poverty Bay team also spoke and thanked players and officials of Whakatane. for their splendid efforts in preparing the ground for the match. He congratulated Bay of Plenty on their win and looked forward to seeing them in Gicbornsc at Easter where he hoped his team would perform more successfully.

Mr L. R. Spring, Bay of Plenty Captain, suitably replied.

The visiting team left Whakatane on Monday at 2 p.m. for home after a trip to Ohope Bcach.
