Combating Diphtheria Steady progress in diphtheria immunisation by the School Medical Service is commented on in the latest issue of the Year Book. In 1942 no fewer than 11781 children took the protective course, comprising 52.77 of pre-school 5254 under seven years of age ? and 1270 of seven, years or over. The scope of immunisation work has been widened to include whooping cough. Vaccine has been obtained in quanity t and free treatment is available through pre-school clinics. It is mentioned that tuberculosis work has been entirely reorganised, the family being talcen as the unit for preventive activity. Contact supervision? previously carried out in the schools is now done in the homes.. &
