NEW U S. CONGRESS
MEETING FOR FIRST TIME
The new United States Congress, the 7'Oth in' American history ( will meet for the first time. Nine seats in the House of Representatives are held by women but for the first, time in 13 years there is no woman,
senator. With a majority 'in both Houses, it is expected that the Democrat will provide the Speaker of the House of Representatives as well a temporary President for Jhe Senate until the new Senator H. S. Truman } is sworn in. in about two week's time. A British correspondent 'in: vA asn-» ington says it is expected that the. President's message to -the new Congress will contain the greater P art of Mr Byrnes' proposal for mobilisation of the country's resuurces s am though it is unlikely that Mr Roosevelt will again ask for an all-over National Service Act such as obtains in Britain.
