LEG AND FOOT AMPUTATED

MAN ASLEEP IN TUNNEL William John aged' 20, of , had a leg and a foot amputated bj>- a train in the railwaytunnel just south of Geelong railway station. Dickie entered the tunnel late at night and went to sleep- reclining against the wall with one leg, across* a rail" and the other foot resting on the rail. A passing train severed the leg. and the foot. Dickie then, evidently crawled to the other side of the tunnel was was then struc'k on the left shoulder by a train outward, bound from Geelong. Shortly after 8 a.m. next day a railway employee found who was conseious ) but was unable to state how he got into the tunnel or what had happened. Dickie was taken to Geelong Hos*pital, where both legs were amputated just below the knees.
