OHOPE'S FUTURE

SO many visitors have commented upon the apparent neglect of Ohope: as a beach resort, that we once again raise the annual appeal for more active measures to be taken to develop the settlement, and to assist making the already attractive foreshore, still more atrractive. The main source of complaint over the holidays has been the roading amenities, which as a Wellington visitor pointed out would not be tolerated anywhere else, in New Zealand., Where else could there be found so pleasant and up-to-date a beach with streams still running across its main access road; or residential frontages without footpaths or sealing. The western roadway came in for bitter criticism. All who know and love Ohope, admit its potentialities. Surely some progressive scheme of development is not entirely beyond us!
