MAORI-PAKEHA DANCE
BRIGHT FORGPORO EVENING
A very success:';;! dance was held in the Poroporo Hall on Saturday evening, Maori and Pakelia being almost, equally represented. The main object of these 'dances is to create a better feeling and understanding between the two it being thought by the Maori, and Pakelia branches of the New Zealand Labour Party in the district that the. social side would best bring this better l'eeling about.
The -dance, was thoroughly enjoyed by all, the M.C. being Mr Archer. The orchestra in attendance was Mr Waite's which is very popular in this district.
The. ■winners, of the many novelty events are. as under: Statue Waltz, Miss Ngatai and Mr J. C. Hikitere; Ist. Monte Carlo, Mi&s Rangi Emera and John Hana; 2nd Statue Waltz, Miss Ngatai and Mr Hikitenc; 2nd Monte Carlo, Miss Henderson and Mr W. Paul .
Extras were played by Miss Helen Merita and accompanied by Mis.s A. Marks. The popular Mass Raymond obliged with several songs.
An enjoyable, supper was served by the Maori and Pakelia ladies' committee. Mrs Huto later presented a Maori loal' to the committee which was auctioned with Mrs Huto being thanked tor her kind offer.
Mr Archer at the conclusion of the evening thanked everyone for their attendance and assistance, and on behalf of. the Maori anti Pakeha Labour Social Committee, he wished a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year to all..
