FIRE BRIGADE GATHERING

PRESENTATION OF PRIZES

A gathering was held at the Fire Brigade Station last Tuesday evening to mark the annual break-up and prize-giving of the Brigade. Present were members of the Service } a number of the Borough Council staff and the Fire Board. '9 The usual toast list was honoured and a presentation was made to Mr 'Scotty' Superintendent. In making the Mr T. Hurndel, Deputy stated that the gift Avas by way of an acknowledgment from the Brigade of the time and work the Superintendent had spent in raising the members to such a high state of efficiency. Ft was directly due to his proficient handling of the Brigade that it had reached the high standard shown at present and every prospect pointed to that, standard increasing. Mr Stewart replied suitably. Prizes for efficiency were then presented to Brigade members by Mr S. S. Shapley Chairman of the > i Fire Board. Those honoured were Secretary H. Allcn ? and Firemen V. Guide, and A. Wiggins the popularity of the winners being shown by hearty applause. Although tlie break-up has been held this does not mean that any lires which may occur will have to go unattended. On the contrary 5 the Fire Service is still 5 as always, on duty 24. hours a day.
