EDGECUMBE BRANCH MEETS
The monthly meeting of the Edgecunibe Red Cross was held in Bell's flail on Wednesday last. Mrs Rob-< crts; presided, and Mrs Jespersen read the minutes and correspondence. Several P.N's had been sent to next of kin for chocolate for Prisoners of War and letters of appreciation for same were received and read. Mrs Jespersen read a card received from Pte Harold a prisoner or war in Stalag XVIIA Germany, thanking the committee for donations of chocolate which were greatly appreciated. Members decided to make a donation of £5 order for groceries to a case of distress through fire; also to approach Mr Patience, the local headmaster and ask him for his cooperation in the Greek appeal for clothing—the children to take a note to parents asking for garments. The parcels will be collected from the school by the organisation. The sum of £11 was sent to Head-i quarters for material, and this had now arrived. Mrs Neilson kindly offered the. use of her home, for members for a cutting out dayJanuary 10—when 126 yards, will be cut out. and made into layettes for babies.
