CALF CLUB RESULTS

RANGITAIKI PLAINS AREA

RECORD ENTRIES RECEIVED

r i lie compel iLions i:i connection, with Ihe lian.uilaiki Calf Club were judged on Deeember !, f> and 6. 'J 1 he re. A\as a very noticeable in-> crease in the number of entries at each school and also an increase in the number ol schools hiking part in this work. From the thirteen schools in the group } no less, than 240 calves were brought forward to be judged. This is approximiately 100 • per cent increase 011 previous records. 1 lie quality of the animals compared more than favourably with that of previous years all the. judges rem a riving on it. One, judge remarked that two calves at one particular school were the finest lie had ever placed his hands upon while another, judge saitl that many of the calves had ljc.cn so well prepared bj- their young owners that they would be a credit to lead in any Royal Show Ring. It was encouraging to judges and club officials to notice the added interest taken by the parents'. At a number of schools there were quite large gatherings. Several schools turned the day into "Parents Daj" and besides the. show of animals the5 r had flower shows and 1 plays of handwork and school work of all kinds. At one school it was difficult to find parking space on 1 the roadside within 100 yards of the . school gate while the. grounds and the crowd of people made, one wonder whether an A. and P. Show was in progress. The club wishes to take this opportunity of thanking the judges Mr N. Carter, Mr T. WardlaAV, Mr W. Murray, Otakiri lor their great help in this movement. Wiilhout the help of these gentlemen who give of their time and their knowledge freely the work could not go on and we acknowledge our debt of gratitude to them.
