FAREWELL DANCE
MR AND MRS N. J. C. MA CD ON ALD GATHERING AT W AIM AN A. A farewell clance was held in the Waimana Hall recently, the guests of the evening being Mr and Mrs N. J. G. Macdonald of Nukuhou North. The function, was. organised by the Patriotic Committee, residents of Nukuhou North and the Y.F.C. The music was dancing was played by the Waimana orchestra and extras were given by Mr, Burke. The duties of M.C. were capably carried out by Mr Des> Woolfield. After supper Mr J. L. Burnett. 011 behalf of all present expressed his regret at the pending (departure of the 'guests t as Mr Macdonald had always, taken a keen interest in all activities of the district especially the Young Farmers' Club } and at the forming of the Home Guard Mr Macdonald was elected as O.G. which position he held until the disbanding of the H.G. Mr Burnetii then presented Mr and Mrs Macdonald with a cheque with the residents goofcl wishes and hoped they would enjoy better health in the future. The guest suitably replied thanking all for the gift. Mr Leather on behalf of the H.G. thanked Mr Macdonald for all he had done to help them with the training at that time, and wished the guests the best of luck in their new home. On behalf of the Y.F.C. Mr Dick White presenteld Mr Macdonald with a gift in appreciation of his great help to the on farming and his coaching of members who took part in the many debates held with other clubs. All joined in singing "For They Are Jolly Good Fellows" dancing continual until a late hour when the singing of "Auld Lang Syne" and the playing of the National Anthem closed the function.
