The Goat Nuisance
A twenty-mile stretch of coastline between Whangaroa and Mangonui harbours where the forest is regenerating, has been overrun with wild goats, says a correspondent of the Forest and Bird Protection Society. As many as fifty goats have been seen in one and the hundreds present arc rapidly destroying every vestige, of young growth. Trees are being barked in place;? and even the hardy pohutukawas are being destroyed.
