WHAKATANE BOWLERS WEEK-END GAMES Fine weather over the. week-end attracted a large number of bowlers to the rinks where a number of friendly games were played. The greens were in excellent condition and the standard of play was consistently high. Keen competition was the. order of the day and some very close matches resulted. HOLDERS DEFEATED In the first match of the season for the much contested Smith Stars, the holders were defeated and the trophies handed over last Saturday after a keenly fought game.
