COMPETITION RESULTS

The final results of the coliipetition. which Avas held in conjunction with the Rotorua Victory Loan Carnival at the beginning of the month have been announced as follows: —•

Ist A. Jefperson, Rotorua; 2nd W. Gillet, Rotorua; 3rd K. Craven Rotorua; 4th R. G. Anderson, Rotorua; stli Mr Cook, Auckland; 6th J. P. R. Kingi, Rotorua; 7th R. Day, Matahina; Bth W. C. E. George, Rotorua; 9th Mrs W. H. Mathewson Ngakura; 10th Mr Te Puke.

At the conclusion of the proceedings, the. appreciation of the effort made by the staff of the Whakatane and Rotorua Native Departments and the Rotorua Maori War Effort Committee under the guiding hand of Mr A. Mclntyre, in staging the carnival was expressed by Mr G. F. Sim, Member for Rotorua. Referring to the work of the-Gala Committee lie said that through their efforts, something in the vicinity of £1000 'had been collected for the Crowther House which money had been invested in Victory bonds. He added that the Committee had also greatly aided the Plunket Society which had been able to increase its funds fourfold during the street clay appeal as a result of the carnival*

To mark the energy and work which he put into organising and running the Mr Mclntyre was constituted an honorary member of the R.S.A.
