LEPER-MAN'S THANKS
Sir, —As advocate for the, leper sufferers at Makogai, Fiji ? Tonga j Cook New Cale-* donia j New Hebrides, and the British South numbering about I wish to thank your numerous readers for kindly responding to the request for help. It was unfortunate, that our appeal took place during the period of the Victory Loan but now that this has been brought to a successful con-, elusion, I s hall be grateful for a few stray crumbs, tokens of your read-< ers' sympathy. Last year 65 patients were, dis-i charged as cured from Makogai making a grand total of. 675 dis4 charged since this station was opened. Kindness is the medicine used. New Zealand's sympathy to these sufferers has considerably helped to bring about this splendid result and our Dominion can justly be proud of this achievement. We hope, that our few remaining baskets will be filled when we close the appeal on November 15. Yours etc., P. J. TWOMEY Secretary Lepers' Trust Board, Christchurch.
