THE MOTOR COW
STORY FROM AUSTRALIA
A FARMER'S DILEMMA
The following story which makes good reading has reached us recently 5 and though, we cannot vouch for its authenticity we reprint it for the benefit of our readers: — \
A farmer in the back blocks of Australia had a cow very sick and sent for the vet to examine her. The vet. prescribed kerosene 3i 4 gallons to. be, administered one quart at a time. The farmer then wrote a letter to. the control authorities, explaining why he needed the kerosene but instead of sending him the office posted him a questionnaire. It was evidently intended as an application for petrol, but the farmer did his best filling up the form as followsc —
Make?— Jersey. Body Type?— Two horns j four feet_ udder and 4 teats.' Year?—l94o. Rating or' Seating Capacity?—l have never ridden her but imagine she would seat two. Mileage?— Vet gave her 1 quart of kerosene and she ran 4 so I judge she would have done 16 miles on 4 quarts. I can't tell you her speed as the vet hasn't yet caught up with hex.
