PERMANENT HEADQUARTERS
WANTED
MEETING TOMORROW EVENING
The question of establishing in Whakatane permanent headquarters for the local branch of the. Red Cross Society will be brought before a public meeting to be held in the Borough Council Chambers on Saturday evening next.
The matter was introduced at the Chamber of Commerce meeting last Tuesday, when, Mr H., Warren urged all members to attend if possible in the. interests of so worthy, a cause. The whole question of discovering ways and means, of accommodation will be thrown open i and as one member of the Chamber 'If you want any proof of the. fine work for which the Red Cross: is re* sponsible, ask any soldier who has been a prisoner of war, and they will tell you that they could not have lived had it not. been for the contents of the Red Cross parcels which came, at regular intervals.'
