In the primary school match played first the Whakatane boys proved rather more aggressive and speedy, and their backs handled rather so that they were able to win 11—6. Maxwell and Maitland (2) scored for Whakatane, the latter converting one try. The secondary boys were represented by two light-weight teams who played a closely-contested game which was largely confined to the forwards, neither set of backs displaying much combination. However on one occasion a good passing movement resulted in the ball leaching the Tauranga wing, who was able to outpace the opposition and score. Tauranga's other points came from a penalty goal, the game, ending B—o8 —0 in their favour.
