"The most beautiful shrubs bear-; ing a variegated leaf grow here in abundance," writes a member of the New Zealand W.A.A.F.'s serving in Norfolk Island ) to a Hastings, friend. "The islanders call them 'match-me-if-you-can ' and truly no two leaves are alike," she states. "They are just like camouflaged cars- — all splashes of colour, ranging from cream through the reds, to choco- , late brown."
