MEETING AT OTAKIRI

The monthlj' meeting oi: the Otakiri Women's Institute was held in the Otakiri Hall on September (J and there was a good attendance! Mrs Armstrong presided and the meeting opened with the "Ode to Friendship.". There was a magnificent display ol' flowers and entries in all competitions were good. The golden thread "Marlborough Sounds" was read by Mrs Carr and very much enjoyed by all. Mrs Armstrong's, talk on "Spring cleaning Hints" proved to be very valu-

able and was much appreciated. Helpful isuggestions on Gladioli growing were given by Mrs Peck. The roll call "Removal of Stains" was answered by all present. A dainty afternoon tea was served by Miss Ruth T'unnicluiffe and Mrs Feck. The meeting closed with the National Anthem. The following competition winners were as, follows: Best flower Mrs Missen 1; Mrs Smith 2; Mrs Winters 3. Best vegetable: Mrs Hancock 1; Mrs Sandilands 2; Mrs Armstrong 3. Vase of spring (lowers Mrs Carr 1; Mrs Smith 2; Mrs G. Murray 3. Cushion made fom sugar bag Mrs Peck 1; Mrs Hancock 2; Mrs Missen 3. Collection biscuits made, from dripping not 'more than 6 varieties Mrs Peck 1; Mrs Missen 2; Mrs Mackrell 3.
