WHAKATANE BRANCH
SETTLING THE LAND
The Executive, of the Whakatane Returned Services met on Friday evening, and dealt with very considerable. correspondence, and matters dealing with Land Settlement, also the matter of Gift' Cattle. The R.S.A. have supplied quite a number of cattle to various Returned Servicemen who have already settled, and as more settlers take up land so will they be provided with more stock. Fortunately there was a very read}' response, to the appeal to the farmers, and the association is sure that Avlien the time comes the returned soldier settlers Avill not. have-to ask "in vain for cattle to assist them on their way to prosperity. Letters Avere received from the Whakatane Count}' Council and the Whakatane Borough Council, advising that soldiers plots in the new cemetery Avould be free of charge, this was received Avith appreciation by the executive. ft was stressed that returned soldiers also soldiers Avives should make, use of the R.S.A. more particularly in obtaining advice on subjects Avhich they are- not clear about. It should be realised by a.ll that the association is out to give all the assistance it possibly can to seeing that soldiers coming back into ciA'il life, receive advice on the proper lines and that returned servicemen J should realise that it was their association, which had bec,n built 'up on long years of experience.
