VIVID LIGHTNING FLASH AREA AT AWAKERI At 10.15 p.m. on Sunday niglit at the height of an electrical storm a particularly vivicl flash of lightning blew a string of fuses from Luxton's corner at Awakeri to the property of Mr McLeans. Torrential rain was falling at the time and though all power to the town was momentarily cut off the supply was switched over and restored in a few minutes. The settlers on the Plains were not so fortunate ) and the 'trouble staff' of the Power Board w T orkcd in the dranching rain till 2 a.m. yesterday morning restoring the blown fuses before the full service was restored.
