PRESENTATION OF PRIZES
SOCIAL FUNCTION HELD
The Whakatane. Citizens' Junior Band held a social function in the Band Room recently, the occasion being the presentation of prizes for the year. These were awarded as follows:— Mr A. J. Canning's prize for good attendance: Bandsmen Alan Stewart Garry Skelton and Pete Ward tied with aa attendance of 49 meetings out of a possible 50. Mr W. Jarrett's prize for behaviour and deportment: Bandsman A. Stewart. Prizes were, also awarded to Bandsmen L. Hoy land and H. Woods, for their zeal and enthusiasm in travelling long distances to practice. The president, Mr A. C. Sutherland, in presenting the prizes for good attendance., commended the boys on their performance and gave the members generally some good advice. The meeting w r as well attended by the. boys' parents and supporters and a few items presented by the Band were much appreciated. A most enjoyable supper was provided and served by the ladles' committee. In conclusion, Mr A. J. Canning thanked the visitors for their attendance and the ladies' committee for providing the supper.
