GIRL GUIDE RALLY

THE first Girl Guide Rally to be held in the Bay of Plenty for a number of years will be held in Whakatane on Saturday, October 7th, in connection with the movements Twenty-first Anniversary celebrations which cover a whole week. The local troop is considered one of the most progressive in the Bay and as a result has undertaken to promote and stage the Rally, which it is hoped will bring a record number of Guides and Brownies to thei town. It is patent to observers that for some time past Whakatane has been a particularly Scout-minded town. We have no doubts whatever that the community will afford the same welcome interest and support to its worthy sister-movement — the Guides. A joint committee in which the officers of both movements have combined has been set up to ensure that the Guide Rally which takes place in the Domain, lacks nothing of the colour and interest, associated with youth rallies of the past. It is anticipated that Guide Companies from Tauranga, Te Puke and Opotiki will participate together with their respective Brownie Packs. Whakatane can be relied upon to do the honours.
