MEETING AT EDGECUMBE

The July meeting of the Edgecumbe Women's Institute. Mas very poorly attended owing to bad weather. Mrs 11. Anderson, vice-presi-dent, presided in the absence of Mrs Hodson. u A very interesting demonstration on smocking Avas given by Mrs Anderson. A ■wool winding competition Vas won by Mrs Wilson and Miss Wilson. A wall competition was won hy Mrs Learning. Competitions were won as follows: Hand-made gloves, Mrs Malpas 1; i Mrs Pearse 2. Three violets, Mrs Malpas 1; Mirs Pearse 2. Best flower, Mrs High ton 1; Mrs Wilson 2; Mrs Malpas 3. Winter cabbage, Mrs Pearse 1. Alternoon tea was served by the hostesses for the day, Mrs Mcxteel, Mrs Shaw and Mrs Pearse.
