TANEATUA ACTIVITIES
JULY MEETING The monthly meeting of the Tanetotua Women's Institute Avas held on Tuesday, July 11. Mrs Gardner presiding over a good attendance. As this was "Grandmother's Day," members had invited grandmother friends and these, as well as the gran'cV mother members, were cordially Welcomed. Tavo new members were elected. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. An invitation to the birthday of the Waimana W.I. "was received, and, providing transport can be arranged, several members expressed their wish to accept the invitation. The president then presented Long j,. Service badges to two members. Mrs k * Adams and Mrs Merrie. This concluded the business, and the. president asked one of the grandmothers Mrs Merrie, who is also a vice-pre-sident,, to take the chair for the rest of the meeting, which consisted of a programme arranged by the grandmothers. The Roll Call, "Knitting Hints,," was well responded to, members exchanging some valuable hints. Mrs Mitchell then gave an interesting talk on her early recollections of the district, after which members tried their skill at a "Memory Test," Which was won by Mrs Moore and Mrs Anderson. Results of the competitions were: A, Bed socks: Mrs Merrie 1; Mrs Grey 2. B„ Girdle scones,: Mirs Moore 1; Mrs Merrie 2. C, Best flower: Mrs Doran 1; Mrs Logan. 2. * A sales table realised over £1 7s, Which goes to Institute, funds. After a delicious afternoon tea, served by Mrs Merrie, Mrs W. Semmens and Mrs Doran, the meeting closed with the National Anthem. k .
