Rugby Footbell Further results of matches played on Saturday at the Domain are as follows: Whakatane defeated A.T.G. 8—0;. Scotch Scouts defeated Citizens G—o.! Fell on Axe Another accident with an axe occurred recently when Kevin Dines, age.d 13 years fell on one and as a result suffered a badly cut foot. He was admitted to the Whakatane Hospital where he is now reported to be progressing satisfactorily. What About the Hospital Rate ? There was an uncomfortable mur-> mur which might have been interpreted as anything at. the Whakatane County Council table last Tuesday, when Cr A. F. McGougan half in jest asked: "What about the Hospital rate; are you going to collect it?" When the rumble died down, the. chairman, Mr J. L. Burnett, observed that, the Council had completed its rating programme, and lie went on to deal with the next business. Whakatane Boys' Band A further attraction for spectators at the Domain on Saturday when the Hairy Fairies, Hilly Billies and Local Giants vaunted their sporting prowess was the presence of the Boy's Band, which added quite a festive spirit to the occasion. Playing a selection of tunes well suited to the cause, the band supplied* just the right atmosphere and much credit is due to the boys who were always on the spot to brighten things up with a lively selection of marches and other tunes. Blockade Visitors to the Whakatane Hospital on Wednesday evening were benumbed at the sight of. two large white-painted boards nailed firmly across tlxe main entrance successfully preventing convenient entrance or exit. The fact that this obstruction was across the, main entrance made it necessary for visitors to either walk some distance further on and through one of the other entrances or follow the example of a large proportion of the hospital staff and crawl through a hole in the hedge. The reason for the barricade is that excavations are at present being made in preparation for the new building which is to be erected and oars would doubtless have encountered difficulty with the deep trench dug in their usual parking place.
