THANKS TO PRESS

Opinion of farmers A COUNTRY STANDARD A .scries of quite flowery compliments to country newspapers and their start's were paid in the closing .stages of the Dairy Producers' Association conference at Morrinsville on Wednesday. Mention of the. press "was first made when a delegate; was moving a machinery motion regarding th»necessity of the association having uniform stationery. Strong opposition to the idea of obtaining bulk quotations was voiced from all over the room. The best quote, declared dele-j gates,, might come from a big printing office but the. best goodwill came from the small country newspapers. The best and fairest reports of activities came in the small papers and the most, unfair and biassed ones in the metropolitan and larger provincial ones. Red Faces! With quite a rhetorical flourish one delegate then moved a vote of thanks to many country papers from Franklin to Te Puke and especially disassociated himself with a named newspaper of very great circulation! Not content with this, lie and another delegate then proceeded tc move 1 votes of thanks to three reporters present in person, one ol whom was doubly embarrassed because of a recent change to a position on a daily. The arrangement regarding sta tioncry was finally made so tlia country offices would receive tin work and the necessary uniformity would also be achieved. The con I'crencc then proceeded to thanl many other people who had assist ed the movement.
