ACCIDENT AT NUKUHOU

CAR AND CYCLE COLLIDE

YOUNG MAN'S LEG BROKEN

As a result of a collision between a motor car and a bicycle near the Nukuhou School some days ago the rider of the bicycle received a badly fractured leg and Avas admitted to the Opotiki hospital,, where his condition is steadily improving.

The cyclist, Donald Frederick McMasters, aged 18„ whose parents re-* side in Auckland, was turning his bicycle from Dinsdale Road into the main Whakatane -Opot ik i highway when lie became involved in a collision" with ' a'motor car travelling in the 1 direction of»Waimana s and driven by 'Mr Alexander of Cambridge, who was accompanied by his wife.

Mr ; McMasters. was. seriously injured and his bicycle completely wrecked. The car was only slightly damaged and the occupants escaped unhurt but-suffered from shock. After, reeeivifrig attention on the roadside f 10m. Dr. H. Mail who went to the; scene of the accident from Opotiki,. the injured cyclist was placed on a light truck and brought to the' Opotiki Hospital.
